Danae Falliers was born and raised in Colorado, and has lived and worked in San Francisco, Los Angeles, New Mexico, and Texas. She earned an MFA in Photography from the University of Southern California, and a BFA from California College of the Arts in Oakland. She has taught traditional and digital photography at the University of New Mexico, Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Aspen, Santa Fe College of Art and Design and Colorado State University among others.
Her work embraces the history and technical standards of the medium. In addition to photographic works, she acknowledges 20 and 21st century painters as an important influence, including the work of Gerhard Richter, Bridget Riley, Ed Ruscha and Brice Marden.
Danae is represented by Craig Krull Gallery in Los Angeles; Susan Spiritus Gallery in Newport Beach, CA; and g2Gallery in Santa Fe, NM. Her works are included in public and private collections in: Berlin, Stuttgart, London, Rome, Monaco, Copenhagen, Oslo, Dubai, Mexico City, New York, Boston, Chicago, Minneapolis, Detroit, Kansas City, Nashville, Miami, New Orleans, Austin, Houston, Dallas, Aspen, Beaver Creak, Denver, Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Tucson, Los Angeles, Hollywood, Malibu, San Francisco, Seattle, and others.
Danae has harnessed her peripatetic nature and restlessness to visualize her experience of the landscape of the American West. Her continued fascination with American pop culture and modern design are also a driving forces in her work.
